Recently we were searching for information about aviation in Indonesia and we found it remarkably difficult to find:
Firstly, the major problem we encountered was in finding information related to private flying services, and aviation sports clubs in Indonesia. This was simply because there are very few clubs in Indonesia due to the poor economic situation in the country. While there are many aviation enthusiasts in Indonesia, it appears that the number of enthusiasts who can afford private or sports flying are simply insufficient to support many clubs.
Secondly, often the information was out of date and many of the links were not active or the websites were no longer being maintained. While this is a common problem at the international level, it's even more frustrating when finding the links was so difficult in the first place.
Thirdly, the aviation sectors seem to be very specific i.e. Hang Gliding, Aeromodelling, Private, or Commercial aviation. So when you are searching for general information you have to go to many websites.
Fourthly, from our experience searching on the Web we believe that people interested in working in the aviation industry in Indonesia would probably find it dificult to locate information about employment opportunities within the industry.
As our primary pre-occupation in Indonesia is in the development of education and human resources information, this was really one of our major concerns.
We personally have been interested in aviation for over 37 years and we believe that the aviation industry can provide significant HRD opportunities for Indonesians and possibly help address some of the economic issues, we decided to create some specifically Indonesian aviation websites

There are many international websites that focus upon the technical aspects of aviation and aircraft. Aviation Indonesia's primary aims are to:
1. Encourage greater interest in the Indonesian Aviation Industry (especially amongst our youth),
2. provide access to this information, but importantly,
3. show the 'Human Face' of aviation in Indonesia.
One of the aviation events in Indonesia that has the potential to attract overseas visitors and international participation is the Bali Fly-In. We considered several avenues to help advertise the event and we are pursueing them, but we also decided to create this Fly-In WebSite to assist with our objectives. However, we are also hoping that this website will serve as a useful resource for aviation enthusiasts in Indonesia.
We hope that our international visitors will also find the websites useful and help by participating and placing their information and news on our websites.
